A Guide to Create a Google Play Developer Account
Updated 3 months agoTo get your app live on the Google Play Store, you’ll need to create a Google Play Developer account. This gives us permission to manage, build, and publish your Android app directly from your account.
Before You Start
There’s a one-time $25 registration fee, and you'll need:
-
A Gmail account
-
Google 2-Step Verification enabled
If you don’t have a Gmail account yet, create one here.
To turn on 2-Step Verification, follow this guide.
Once that’s done, you’re ready to go.
Step-by-Step: Create Your Google Play Developer Account
Step 1
Head to Google Play Console Sign-Up
Step 2
Log in using the Gmail account you want to associate with the developer profile.
Make sure this is the correct account because whoever signs up becomes the permanent owner. This cannot be changed later.
We suggest using a business or shared email like apps@companyname.com rather than a personal one.
Step 3
Choose to register as an Organization or Business
Click Continue to move forward.
Step 4
Start by entering your developer name (this is what users will see on the Play Store).
Then, connect your account to a payment profile.
-
If you’ve already added a payment method to your Google account, you’ll see it listed.
-
Otherwise, select Create new payment profile and enter the required info.
Next, enter your DUNS number. You can look it up here if you’re unsure.
After verifying your DUNS details, continue filling in your company’s information including your phone number and email. Keep in mind, these will be visible on your app listing once published.
Step 5
Fill in the About You section.
Briefly explain why you're registering (example: “We’re building a mobile app for our online store with Vegacart”).
Step 6
Under the Apps section:
-
Mention how many apps you plan to build
-
Choose No when asked if you’ll be earning money
-
Select None of the above in the App Categories section
Step 7
Agree to the terms and click Create an account and pay. This will take you to the checkout screen to complete the $25 registration.
Invite Vegacart to Your Account
Once your account is ready:
-
Log in to your Google Play Console
-
Click Users and Permissions from the left menu
-
Select Invite new users
-
Enter
support@vegacart.io as the email
-
Assign Admin access
-
Hit Send Invitation
Final Steps
Google may ask you for additional verification if they cannot confirm your business details automatically. If that happens, you’ll see a notification in your Google Play Console with instructions.
Once the invite has been sent, your Implementation Specialist will reach out to help with the rest.
