HOW SESSION TIMEOUT WORKS ON VEGACART
Updated 1 month agoOne of the biggest advantages of using Vegacart is how effectively it helps improve your mobile app conversions compared to your regular website. To give you real-time visibility into that performance, we show various metrics, and one of the key ones is session conversion. But to truly understand that number, it's important to know how we define a session.
So, what exactly is a session?
In Vegacart, a session begins when a user enters your app and ends after a certain period of inactivity. Until now, we defined the end of a session as just 30 minutes of no activity.
So if a user stopped tapping around for half an hour, and then returned, we counted it as a brand new session.
Why does that matter?
This shorter timeout caused a jump in the total number of sessions being counted. More sessions meant lower conversion rates per session, which may not have accurately reflected how well your app was performing, especially compared to other platforms in the industry.
What’s changing now?
To align with industry standards and give you a more accurate picture of app performance, we’re updating our session timeout to 30 minutes of inactivity.
This means users will now need to be inactive for a full 30 minutes before a new session is counted.
How will this impact your dashboard?

Track App Activity in Insights
Inside the ‘Overview’ section, you’ll find the App Activity heatmap, which shows when your app sees the most traffic throughout the week. This gives you a clear picture of your users' peak activity hours so you can time your push notifications for maximum impact.

Once your push is sent, you can track its performance by reviewing the App Sessions and Sales metrics right from the dashboard.
This helps you understand what’s working and fine-tune your future campaigns accordingly.
