How to Set Up Your App Listing in Vegacart
Updated 3 months agoYour app listing is the first impression potential users will have. A strong listing not only builds trust but helps people understand what your app does and why it’s worth downloading.
If you're using Vegacart to launch your mobile app, here's how to set up your listing the right way.
What Goes Into Your App Listing
Let’s break down each element you’ll need before submitting your app for review.
Branding Assets
App Icon
This is the face of your app. This is what users will see on their home screens. Make sure it reflects your brand. We recommend a clean, high-quality version of your logo that looks great on both light and dark backgrounds.
Placeholder Image
This image shows up when a product image is loading inside your app. Best practice? Use a subtle, gray-scale version of your app icon.
Launch Screen
This is the screen users see when they open your app. We recommend a clean lifestyle image that represents your brand vibe and keep it professional but personal.
App Store Screenshots
Your screenshots preview what your app looks like and what it offers. These should visually highlight your app’s features, from navigation to search to checkout. Treat them like billboards for your app experience.
Tip: Use lifestyle mockups with real product images to show how smooth and intuitive your app feels.
App Store Listing Details
App Title
This is your app’s main title. Ideally, it should match your Shopify store name (or something very close). The App Store allows up to 30 characters, but we recommend keeping it short, ideally under 15 characters and keyword-relevant.
Tips for naming your app:
-
Don’t include special characters
-
Avoid category names like “shopping”
-
Add one or two high-intent keywords
-
Keep it simple, memorable, and brand-aligned
App Subtitle
Think of this as your app’s tagline. You’ve got 30 characters to tell users exactly what your app does and why it’s useful. You can test and update this with each new app version to see what drives the best engagement.
Category Selection
Your app will be listed under a primary and secondary category. This is important for discovery and helps users find your app where they expect it.
For most ecommerce apps, we suggest:
-
Primary: Shopping
-
Secondary: Lifestyle
Note: Don’t game the system. Placing your app in unrelated categories may lead to rejection during App Store review.
Keywords (Apple App Store only)
Keywords help your app show up in relevant App Store searches. Think like your customer, like what would you type if you were looking for your own app?
Important: Keywords don’t affect ranking on the Google Play Store, only Apple.
App Description
This is your pitch. Be clear, persuasive, and on-brand. Start strong as your first sentence is what people will see in preview mode, so make it count.
Your description should include:
-
What your app does
-
Key features or benefits
-
Why users will love it
-
Your support contact info or social handles
Pro-Tip: If your app improves conversion rates, speeds up checkout, or supports loyalty programs, call that out early.
Business Information
You’ll also need to provide some business links and details:
-
Marketing URL: Your store’s homepage
-
Support URL: Your contact page or help center
-
Privacy Policy URL: This is mandatory. If you don’t have one, use Shopify’s Privacy Policy Generator
-
Terms of Service URL: Optional, but good to include if you have one
Screenshot Guidelines
Your screenshots should follow Apple and Google’s size specs. Don’t worry since our team at Vegacart will guide you on the exact resolutions needed for different devices. Just make sure your designs are polished and aligned with your brand look.
